This movie is still the most recent Facebook update Ebel has made, and the video is captioned there equally thoughtfully: “that the EBEL team wishes you a Happy holiday Season! At this joyous time of the year, we seem to discuss not only special gifts but also a generosity of heart and consideration for all those in need.” On March 11, 2011, a 9.0 magnitude underground megathrust earthquake occurred off the coast of Japan and triggered a devastating tsunami that would decimate much of T?hoku and lots of other eastern areas of the island. The disaster resulted in more than 15,000 deaths, almost 6,000 injuries and structural damage. Roads and homes were completely destroyed in many areas, and the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, heavily damaged, released a large amount of radioactive compounds into the surrounding region. In December 2011, the plant was announced stable, but it will be years before the surrounding area will recover. The World Bank estimated the economic cost of this tsunami at approximately $235 billion U.S. bucks. This quote places the tragedy since the world’s most expensive to occur.Ebel has not published information regarding the precise nature or value of their gift to Japan.EBEL has introduced a special edition of the EBEL 100 watch, now using color straps. The 2012 Special Edition EBEL 100 comes in three colours: Electric Blue, Deep Green, and Strong Grey. The 1911 BTR 137 is powered by Ebel Caliber 137 that is developed, assembled and tested in the brand’s workshops and accredited by COSC. Locate complete specifications and pricing indoors.

Well, it is officially official – I am sick of “retro, heritage, vintage, classic, original, etc…” watches. Which is funny because I actually like the look of this Ebel Classic 100 timepiece. I just wish all the “old watch’ branding would disappear. It is a fine piece on its own, I don’t care if it has an historic look to it.

So not only did I find the design beautiful (oh, those curves depended to me) but, furthermore, the iconic Zenith El Primero 36,000 oscillations chronograph beat within it. Add to that small details such as white gold crown, pushers, and bezel onto a steel watch, and that I was smitten.ABTW: Actually 20+ years down the line, these particulars still cling! Was there ever a time in your life when you were able to choose one up?Maximilian Büsser: In 1989 (at the age of 22) I’d my Swiss army service. In the middle of it, I had a dreadful accident where my Jeep overturned. I was thrown out and it actually landed on my back at 50 km/h. I must have been dead. No question. In reality, I’m still wondering now how come I am not. After six months in the hospital, I hobbled on a bus to town, and went straight into the little watch store known as “Le Diadème” at Lausanne. My entire torso and right arm were in a cast, but luckily my left arm was free. I left with all the Ebel Chronograph on its own wrist to celebrate I was still alive. Oh, and I emptied my bank accounts from the process.ABTW: That is quite a life-changing event, and surely puts a lot of sentimental value on the Ebel. I assume this is a watch you still have?Maximilian Büsser: Of course I still have it, but I don’t wear it. Every watch I purchased was a landmark of some thing in my entire life, and now that I have the luxury of creating my own pieces, every year is a new landmark alone. Having a solid female design sway, EBEL offers an enviable choice of women’s watches. Famous for its iconic bracelet featuring unique wave-shaped connections, the Swiss manufacturer happily marries technical expertise with contemporary design.

Would you like the way the prototype version Ebel showed me some time back watch paired with a red galuchat strap? I liked the opinion then and enjoy it today, but seeing it only reminds me of just how stale the sector is in terms of their designs. It is not 1940, or 1950, or 19 anything. It is 2011 and I would like to find out more watches which remind me of that. As I said, at the very least when advertising a watch with a retro design – just make that aspect subtle. Or are people really on such a hunt for all things vintage?Sociologically speaking this “past craving” happens whenever there are severally depressed economic and cultural occasions. People today look with collective or real nostalgia back to occasions when thing were “better” Real or not, our look into the past seems rosy. Especially when the future doesn’t look bright. The watch industry actually did not start the retro trend, they just adopted in their own manner. I just think they pushed it a little too difficult. Can it with elegance people.Ebel, I am sorry you had to be connected to this little rant of mine. Your Classic 100 does help remind people your brand is 100 years of age. I believe your original logo is very cool by the way. As a small variation of 1911 pieces (the year that the brand started)< the Vintage 100 will contain a Swiss ETA 2892 automatic movement. The dial is silver-toned with some applied hour markers and very legible. Again, it’s all about those hands.

Since the economic crisis brands of all types and sizes have been releasing watches that look to the past for inspiration, or are just copies of older watches. The reasons and effects of this are varied and complex, something I don’t wish to get into for the 100th time. Brands… look. If you want to make watches using old designs, I don’t care. Just don’t throw it in my face and talk about innovation when there is none. Seriously, are times so depressing that we cannot have contemporary design?

This Ebel Classic 100 is a fine example of a 40mm wide steel-cased watch. The delicate leaf-shaped hands really make it nice, and Ebel has always excelled in terms of their case designs. While a bit hard to tell here, the “polished pebble” philosophy the Ebel uses in making their cases is even apparent in this rather simple case. The bezel is polished but the rest of the case is brushed.

Do you like how the prototype model Ebel showed me a while back watch matched with a red galuchat strap? I liked the watch then and like it now, but seeing it just reminds me of how stale the industry is in terms of their designs. It isn’t 1940, or 1950, or 19 anything. It is 2011 and I would like to see more watches that remind me of that. While a nice vintage or retro piece is welcome once in a while, the entire industry has just beaten the concept to death. Like I said, at the very least when marketing a watch with a retro style – just make that aspect more subtle. Or are people really on such a hunt for all things vintage?

Sociologically speaking this “past craving” happens when there are severally depressed economic and cultural times. I like the simple, clean lines of Ebel but could only ever think about a mechanical watch. A mechanical watch has fire, emotion, soul. It is not cold or dull but a congregation of components singing in harmony my favourite tune of “tick-tock”. Ebel does create some rather interesting mechanical watches, offering Swiss quality for an attractive cost point.I often feature the best horological creations out of Switzerland and Germany that are the pinnacle of the watchmaker’s craft. Prices can be reach levels were the air is thin, but the pursuit of perfection is superb. However, many people can’t afford to spend a six figure amount on a wristwatch. My mission with ESCAPEMENT is to educate readers to be selective about watch collecting. Think “outside of the box”, don’t succumb to a default option predicated on mere branding. A product with premium pricing can delude you to the perception it must be the best, purely because it costs more. Some watches can price a six figure amount. They may be expensive but signify value on account of the incredible craftsmanship necessary to make them. Months of work, by an elite couple can justify the high cost.Conversely, products with a comparatively low cost, can represent poor value as they have hardly any intrinsic value and are expediently fabricated with small human intervention.Ebel has caught my attention with the Ebel Classic Hexagon. It has a hexagonal case made from brushed stainless steel using a stainless steel bezel in a highly polished finish.
This video remains the latest Facebook update Ebel has made, and the movie is captioned there equally thoughtfully: “that the EBEL team wishes you a Happy holiday Season! The opinion contains the Ebel 18K-750 4N GMT Swiss motion in a large 45.4mm wide 18k rose gold case (the actual dial is about 37mm wide) . The case is also available in steel, with the face in black or white, with steel or gold hour markers. You’ll also notice the option between hour markers and roman numerals for the next time zone sudbial, and don’t overlook the big date complication. The black (I think brown is also available) alligator strap is uniquely made to match the curvature of this case. Thus there are a whole lot of versions to suit your own taste. The gold version is obviously going to be much more expensive (but you have to admit is looks fantastic with the black face). Prices start at approximately $3,500 and top out at roughly $12,000 for the gold version.Welcome back to an original aBlogtoWatch feature, “My very first Grail Watch.” In this series, we ask dominant people within the watch industry concerning the first timepiece that they lusted after. In 1985, my parents needed to give me a watch as a gift. Sooner or later, I had been sitting in university next to a guy who’s wearing a watch I didn’t recognize. I ask him what it is, and he answers, “a Rolex.” I don’t have any clue what it is.

Ebel, I am sorry you had to be connected to this little rant of mine. Your Classic 100 does help remind people that your brand is 100 years old. I think your original logo is very cool by the way. As a limited edition of 1911 pieces (the year the brand started)< the Classic 100 will contain a Swiss ETA 2892 automatic movement. The dial is silver-toned with some applied hour markers and very legible. Again, it is all about those nice hands. Oh, and unless you really want the stingray strap, the final version will come on a black alligator strap.
